Master™ Solo S lighting

Even though Solo™ offers almost infinite possibilities for creativity in ceiling spaces, there are situations when account needs to be taken of mechanical constraints. This applies particularly to the integration of other installations with Solo™. The mechanical limitations mainly apply to:

  • Loads
  • Cutting holes
  • Suspension
When holes are cut in the unit the absorption area is reduced by the same amount as the area that has been cut away. If the area cut away is less than 10% of the unit’s area, the acoustic properties will not be significantly affected.

Loads
Loads
It is important that the unit is correctly balanced and that the luminaires are evenly distributed. If the luminaire has sharp contact surfaces that risk damaging the unit, load-distributing spacers should be used.

Cutting holes
Cutting holes
The load, and the number of holes required in the tile, determine where the holes are to be cut. Nonload-bearing installation provides greater freedom in positioning the holes than load-bearing installation. When holes are cut in the unit, the size and positions of the holes must be taken into account. The holes must be located at least 50 mm inside the delimitation formed by the wire hangers.

Suspension possibilities
Adjustable wire with spiral anchor
Ecophon Solo™ units can be used in three dimensional installations and angled in different patterns. If there are areas delimited by holes that are longer than 600 mm, extra wire hangers must be used.

Tiles with 3 fixing points: Circle & Triangle
Tiles with 4 fixing points: Square, Pentagon, Hexagon, Heptagon, Octagon & Freedom tiles with length ≤ 1300mm
Tiles with 6 fixing points: Rectangle, Ellipse & Freedom tiles with length > 1300mm

Tile loads should be evenly distributed. Aim for all hangers to be loaded equally. For more information about how to integrate external loads see installation guides: IG284, IG282, IG281

Solo shapes with 3 suspension points: Circle & Triangle
Solo shapes with 4 suspension points: Square, Pentagon, Hexagon, Heptagon, Octagon & Freedom tiles with length ≤ 1300mm
Solo shapes with 6 suspension points: Rectangle, Ellipse & Freedom tiles with length ≥ 1300mm

Tiles with 6 suspension points could have holes with a length longer than 500mm. An extra wire has to be installed between holes if the length of the holes are longer than 600mm.

For more information how to integrate an independently suspended luminaire see installation guides: IG284, IG282 & IG281
