The room acoustic mystery
– and how to solve it
As a first choice we will always recommend a fully covering suspended ceiling. But we also recognise that this is not always possible – or is simply not enough to reach the room acoustic comfort that the room activity needs due to room volume, ceiling height or sheer high demand use.
Therefore we also recommend acoustic wall panels - to quiet down the room, allowing speech be heard more clearly and stop unwanted sound from spreading to far ends of the room. This way we achieve workplaces that are optimised for their activity and where people feel good and perform at their best. Rules of thumb – placement and amount of wall panels
-
It is recommended to keep a distance of about 1 metre between the wall panel and the person´s head.
-
Place the wall panel close in height of ear and mouth.
-
For eductional rooms the most effective range of coverage of wall panels is in the range of 10-25% of the floor area.
-
To increase speech clarity and reduce reverberation time in smaller rooms such as dining rooms, meeting rooms, wall panel coverage should make up 8-13% of the floor area.
Take these 4 situations for instance, and see how wall panels make the difference.
