Vietnam breweries focus on sound
Large industrial spaces with hard surfaces often lead to significant noise issues – but problems are meant to be solved. Asia Pacific Breweries (APB), a major player in the brewing industry, took action to reduce noise levels at its production facilities in Vietnam.
The breweries in Vietnam are committed to meeting strict workplace environment standards. To support this, they have invested in effective acoustic solutions at their plants in Ho Chi Minh City and Danang – ensuring a more comfortable and compliant working environment for their staff.
Meeting international sound standards
Vietnamese regulations stipulate a maximum equivalent sound level of 85 dB in workplaces where hearing protection is not used. If noise levels exceed 80 dB, companies are required to conduct a review and propose improvements.
With bottles and cans moving rapidly along production lines, noise levels can be substantial – making acoustic treatment essential.

APB and local partner Vietnam Brewery (VBL) operate four breweries in Danang, Ho Chi Minh City, Quangnam, and Tiengiang. APB is currently being fully acquired by Heineken.
Designed to withstand humidity and corrosion
Acoustic consultants were brought in to assess the noise levels and determine optimal placement for sound absorbers. After evaluating several options, Clifford Jones, Supply Chain Director, approved the installation of approximately 900 baffles with sound absorption class A, in the ceilings above the two production lines.
The acoustic system needed to withstand high humidity, which can lead to corrosion and mould. The chosen solution features absorbers encapsulated in a high-tech, moisture-resistant film, supported by a humidity-resistant grid.
At the sister brewery in Danang, 600 baffles were initially installed in the noisiest area of the plant, resulting in a noticeable improvement. Encouraged by the results, the company decided to install an additional 1,000 baffles in a new canning line to further reduce reverberation time.
