The Tyks Lighthouse Hospital, completed and opened in early 2022, is a striking eight‑storey hospital situated atop a concrete deck over the Helsinki highway and railway line. Encompassing approximately 55,000 m², the facility integrates specialised services such as paediatrics, adolescent medicine, obstetrics and gynaecology, ENT, oral and maxillofacial care, medical imaging, NICU and neonatal care – all designed around the guiding principles of interdisciplinary collaboration, family‑centred care, and operational efficiency.

Architecturally, the hospital draws inspiration from the archipelago and nature of southwest Finland – visually manifested through themes of a lighthouse island, warm animal motifs, colour‑coded floors, and a “light‑casting” rooftop machine room, while the pack‑ice‑inspired parking structure adds contextual coherence.

The demanding location above active traffic routes mandated advanced vibration and acoustic control: over 600 customised rubber plate bearings were installed to isolate the building from road and rail vibrations. This, together with careful acoustic engineering by AINS Group and excellent room acoustics, ensures quiet and soothing environments essential for sensitive spaces such as NICU, hearing and sleep testing facilities, laboratories, and imaging units.

At Tyks Lighthouse Hospital, there are over 30,000 m² of Ecophon acoustic ceiling tiles, such as Gyptone^® Quattro and Ecophon Hygiene Advance™, which contribute to a calm and comfortable healing environment.
