How noise affects hospital care

How noise affects hospital care

Several studies show that a good sound environment increases the quality of care in hospitals in many ways:

Sleep well and heal faster

Sleep is critical for patient recovery - changing the ceiling from plaster to a class A sound-absorbing ceiling can reduce sleep arousals in a ward by 40%.

Noise reduces performance

Accuracy is decreased by approximately 50% in a noisy environment - but the average sound level often exceeds 70 decibel in emergency departments and operating rooms.

Less noise – less medication

The intake of medication can be reduced by 67% simply by changing a sound-reflecting ceiling to a class A sound-absorbing ceiling.
