Better acoustics for a large training space

When user feedback highlighted acoustic challenges in one of its largest facilities, Dijon Gendarmerie Academy set out to improve comfort and reduce reverberation in a room spanning almost 1,000 m². The project was delivered by Malec Entreprise in collaboration with the academy's Real Estate and Housing Department.

The large volume of the room, combined with a sloping metal roof, created demanding acoustic conditions. To address these challenges, the project team selected Ecophon Solo™ Baffle, a solution that could adapt to the building’s architecture while providing effective sound absorption.

Nearly 1,000 white baffles were installed throughout the space, creating a discreet visual expression while significantly improving the acoustic environment.

The transformation has been welcomed by both facility managers and users of the space.

"The result is simply stunning. It’s common to have 150 people in this room at once, and despite the noise, there’s no longer any echo or reverberation. It’s much more pleasant and significantly improves working conditions," says Aline Bressanelli, Head of the Real Estate and Housing Department at Dijon Gendarmerie Academy.

Users have highlighted both the acoustic and visual improvements, describing the solution as well suited to the space and appreciating the contemporary design that enhances the room while supporting its everyday use.

Thanks to the installation of Ecophon Solo™ Baffle, Dijon Gendarmerie Academy now benefits from a more comfortable environment for work, training and communication. The project demonstrates how acoustic treatment can improve user experience in large-volume spaces while integrating seamlessly with the building’s architecture.
