As Osabak grew, so did the noise

Created by childhood friends and inspired by Basque traditions of sharing food and conversation, Osabak has quickly become a popular destination in the Escudier Market in Boulogne-Billancourt. As the restaurant grew busier, noise levels increased, making conversations more difficult for guests and creating challenges for staff communication.

The combination of hard surfaces, background music, service activity and multiple simultaneous conversations contributed to a noisy environment. The restaurant wanted to reduce reverberation and improve speech comfort without altering the character of the interior or interrupting daily operations.

To address the challenge, six white Ecophon Solo™ Rectangle acoustic islands were installed above the dining area. The suspended islands provide targeted sound absorption precisely where noise is generated while maintaining the sense of openness in the space. Their discreet design blends naturally into the interior and preserves both ceiling height and the restaurant’s visual identity.

An important requirement was that the restaurant remained fully operational during the installation. The islands were mounted with minimal disruption and without major structural modifications.

The acoustic treatment has helped create a more comfortable dining environment for both guests and staff.
