Paanu Relax Spa – a calming acoustic environment for deep relaxation

In 2025, Härmän Kylpylä introduced its new adults‑only extension, Paanu Relax Spa, on Finland’s west coast. Designed as a calm retreat, the space features themed saunas, hot and cold pools, experience showers and intimate rest areas inspired by the surrounding South Ostrobothnian nature. Dark, natural materials, gentle lighting and sculptural water elements create a warm and tranquil atmosphere.

Acoustic solution

To strengthen the sense of stillness, the spa is fitted with an Ecophon Hygiene™ Black acoustic ceiling. The system provides Class A sound absorption and blends seamlessly into the interior thanks to its matt black finish. Engineered for humid environments and regular cleaning, it includes C4‑rated corrosion‑resistant grids to ensure long‑term performance.

“Acoustics were a key priority. The matt black suspended ceiling conceals the technical installations and creates the impression of a lower, more intimate space,” says interior architect Ulla Kuljunlahti, InHouse Design Oy.

A serene atmosphere

Paanu Relax Spa successfully combines form, material choices and acoustic control to create a space where guests can unwind without disturbance.

“A big part of Paanu’s atmosphere comes from its well‑designed acoustics. None of the sounds from the larger spa carry into the space. It truly feels like a world of its own,” says Liina Hautanen, Brand Manager at Härmän Kylpylä.
