Acoustic islands shape a dynamic workplace
Located on the 17th floor of Skyline Tower in Belgrade, the PopiPlay office combines a contemporary workplace with the distinctive visual identity of the gaming industry. Extensive glazed surfaces, exposed services and hard finishes create an open and dynamic environment, while also presenting acoustic challenges.
To maintain the openness of the workspace while supporting acoustic comfort, Ecophon Saga™ A panels were installed using the Quick-Lock® Insula 76 suspension system. Rather than creating a continuous ceiling, the 600 × 600 mm panels were arranged as suspended islands of varying shapes and sizes, forming an architectural feature that follows the geometry of the office.
The exposed suspension system becomes an integral part of the design, with white and black profiles creating different visual expressions throughout the space. The island configuration helps define zones within the open-plan office while preserving sightlines and retaining the industrial character of the interior.
Beyond its visual impact, the ceiling solution contributes to a more comfortable working environment. The strategically positioned acoustic islands help absorb sound reflections and reduce reverberation in areas where conversations, phone calls and collaborative activities take place simultaneously.
In the meeting rooms, Ecophon Solo™ Baffle provides additional sound absorption while maintaining the open ceiling concept. The suspended baffles help support speech clarity, creating suitable conditions for meetings and video conferences.
The result is a workspace where acoustics and architecture work together. The ceiling islands contribute to the identity of the office while supporting a comfortable and functional environment for employees.
