Acoustic comfort in shared spaces
The new 39,000 m² SCOR business hub in Gentilly, Île‑de‑France, places strong emphasis on user comfort – especially in its busy shared spaces. To support wellbeing and reduce noise, the project team selected Ecophon high‑performance acoustic solutions for the company restaurant and communal areas.
Studies show that noise is a significant issue in workplace restaurants:
- 46% of employees often feel overwhelmed by noise in company cafeterias¹
- Only 17% eat daily in workplace restaurants¹
- 93% believe acoustic comfort is as important as food and service quality¹
To address this, approved installer Luso Plaque & Plâtre (PLL), led by Antonio Da Costa, implemented a selection of Ecophon Solo™ free‑hanging units. These solutions had to meet both acoustic and design requirements while adapting to the layout and technical constraints of the space.
Optimising the self‑service and dining areas
In the self‑service zone, vertically oriented Solo Baffle panels add a strong visual feature while improving sound absorption along busy circulation paths.
In the dining area, more than 400 Solo Circle and Solo Square units were installed to create a calmer, more welcoming atmosphere where employees can relax and communicate comfortably.
The Solo range is known for its flexibility – it can be used independently or combined with modular ceilings – and its ease of installation, requiring minimal equipment.
According to Antonio Da Costa, the Solo solutions stood out for their quick installation and excellent acoustic performance. He notes that the positive response from end users regarding the improved sound environment has been particularly rewarding.
