Acoustic comfort and striking design in a modern workplace
The new Sopra Steria office in Katowice was designed to support a hybrid work model while creating a comfortable and visually cohesive workplace. A key requirement was to achieve excellent acoustic performance across both individual workspaces and collaborative zones, without compromising the modern architectural expression.
Acoustic solutions reduce reverberation and background noise in open-plan areas, improving speech intelligibility and concentration. Modular ceiling systems are combined with free-hanging elements to enhance acoustic control in selected zones, while reinforcing the geometric, modernist character of the interior. Acoustics were integrated from the outset as a core part of the architectural concept.
“This project clearly demonstrates that acoustics are not an add-on to the office environment, but its foundation. High-end aesthetics and strong architectural expression can coexist with excellent acoustic comfort – creating a workplace people want to return to,” says Marcin Latta, Concept Developer Office at Saint-Gobain Ecophon.
A key feature of the project is the large conference room, where a stretch ceiling system with integrated lighting creates a seamless ceiling surface with strong visual impact while ensuring appropriate acoustic conditions for meetings and presentations. The design reflects a contemporary identity inspired by mineral structures and Katowice’s modernist architecture.
The project was developed through close collaboration between Ecophon and the Workplace team, combining early-stage design consultancy with technical support throughout the process to align acoustic performance with architectural intent.
