After 19 long months, the city's indoor swimming pool finally opened in Roudnice nad Labem. Athletes and recreational swimmers will be attracted by the building's new insulated shell, barrier-free entrance area with smart turnstiles and lockers, showers with two saunas and a whirlpool.

Unfortunately, it was not an easy process. As part of the renovation work of the indoor swimming pool, after uncovering the ceiling panels, serious deficiencies in the quality of the waterproofing of the functional areas around both pools and adjacent areas were discovered, which resulted in the necessity of further repairs. In addition, poorly adjusted acoustic conditions cause higher noise levels, poor intelligibility and directly affect our health. In the pool halls, it is not only necessary to solve the interior acoustics for the sake of user comfort, but mainly for the sake of safety.

The requirements of the hygiene standard ČSN 730527 for setting the reverberation time applies here. In recent times, the supervisory authorities of the hygiene administration have also been required to implement corrective measures retroactively in these public spaces, and it was the pool hall in Roudnice nad Labem that had a similar problem with interior acoustics. The original reconstruction project tried to solve this, but unfortunately it was beyond the financial possibilities of the investor, so an alternative solution was sought. Communication took place with the investor, architects, acousticians and the contractor.

The selected horizontal Ecophon Solo™ elements and vertical wall panels Ecophon Akusto™ Wall C with Akutex HS surface enabled easy and quick installation. This reduced the time of assembly and rental of the gantry scaffolding, as well as the time required to limit operations. In addition to acoustic requirements, the resistance of materials against moisture is also addressed at the same time – again, they are prescribed by the applicable standard – it is enough to know these requirements, take them into account in the project and comply with them during implementation.
