The Sussex & Surrey Institute of Technology is a £15 million facility designed to support employers in building a highly skilled workforce for engineering, construction, and digital technologies.

Working in close collaboration with Bond Bryan Architects, the project features a multi-product specification that combines outstanding acoustic performance with creative design to deliver an inspiring learning environment.

A key characteristic of the classrooms and learning spaces is the open, exposed soffit, where Ecophon Focus Edge™ 500 and Ecophon Focus™ E panels have been installed. These solutions provide both striking visual appeal and exceptional room acoustics, ensuring spaces that are as functional as they are aesthetically pleasing.

Ceiling specialists Surefix played a crucial role in bringing this vision to life, expertly installing the acoustic solutions while maintaining the original design intent. In open areas, Ecophon Solo™ Baffle panels were used to achieve excellent acoustics in spaces that could otherwise present challenges. Solo panels in the corridors add a distinctive design feature while contributing to overall acoustic quality.

By integrating Ecophon acoustic panels throughout the facility, the project successfully combines innovative design with optimal sound environments. These solutions have been instrumental in shaping educational spaces where form and function work seamlessly together for the benefit of students and staff alike.
