As part of the British government’s school rebuilding programme, a new two-storey primary school was constructed to replace the existing single-storey block.

Working in collaboration with Ellis Williams Architects and contractor Tilbury Douglas, various Saint-Gobain Ecophon products were specified. The focus was on minimising disruption to pupils while creating a functional space with an optimised acoustic environment.

Tailored acoustic solutions were implemented in each area to control noise transfer and ensure high acoustic performance. Ecophon Solo™ free-hanging panels were installed in classrooms as an alternative to suspended ceilings. Ecophon Hygiene Performance™ A, chosen for its excellent cleanability, was used in kitchens and food preparation areas. In assembly halls used for P.E. lessons, Ecophon Akusto™ Wall A with Super G finish provided impact resistance, allowing ball sports to continue safely.

With support from the Ecophon technical team and the use of the Ecophon laser projection system, Network Partitions & Ceilings Ltd reduced installation time from the originally quoted eight days to just two – across a total of 16 classrooms.
