The investment in spatial acoustics paid off for the secondary health school in Liptovský Mikuláš
The Secondary Medical School in Liptovský Mikuláš is among the pioneers in Slovakia who realise that problems with excessive noise in school premises can be solved by adjusting the acoustic conditions.
The school replaced the traditional ceiling with an acoustic one in the atrium and common room, which brought a significant improvement in the quality of communication.
"In large classrooms where there is no acoustic ceiling yet, the sound reverberates and reverberates throughout the classroom, which makes communication between the students and the teacher significantly more difficult," says school director Silvia Blcháčová. She adds that "students and teachers especially appreciate the fact that the sounds and noise from the corridors do not penetrate into the classrooms or classrooms, as it was before the renovation".
"By installing a highly absorbent ceiling, we can reduce the perception of the noise level by half. This significantly changes the situation in the classroom. Since everyone can be heard and understood without raising their voice, the overall volume in the classroom will be reduced by 10 dB," explains Peter Petraško, Key segment developer Ecophon. The school in Liptovský Mikuláš plans to continue improving spatial acoustics in classrooms as well.
