Children spend up to half of their time in kindergarten and school listening and understanding the spoken word, so it is important that they understand the teacher well.

"It is necessary to take measures that will reduce the noise intensity, improve the intelligibility of speech and shorten the reverberation time. The reverberation should not exceed half a second, which can be achieved with acoustic panels," says Peter Petraško, segment developer of Ecophon Slovakia.

Acoustic panels are needed in all rooms with group activities, but also in corridors, in the dressing room or in the dining room.

"The best result will be ensured by a combination of an acoustic ceiling and wall panels located on two non-parallel walls," adds Petraško.

Such measures were able, for example, to cut the reverberation time in half in a kindergarten in Karlová Ves and also improve the intelligibility of speech. Free-hanging Ecophon Solo™ Rectangle panels were used for the ceiling and Ecophon Akusto™ Wall C absorption class A panels were used on the walls.

"We don't have to raise our voices so that children can hear us well. Talking is no longer so exhausting and neither we nor the children are bored. Teaching is generally calmer. We can channel the saved energy into better educational and play activities," the kindergarten director Mgr. Vanda Šichulová evaluated the change.
